3 Reasons Why It’s Important To Take Time To Yourself
Do you feel like finding time for you is impossible right now?
Many of us will be feeling that time to ourselves is impossible, but it is certainly something that we could all benefit from prioritising!
If you have spent the last few weeks indoors with your family, then time alone might feel like a distant memory. Although this is a fantastic opportunity to spend more time with our loved ones and make special memories, some time alone is still super important too.
If taking time to be alone is something that you have never made the conscious effort to do, then this might seem like a strange concept, but today I want to share 3 reasons why it’s so important to take time to yourself, especially during lockdown.
1. RELAX YOUR MIND
Our minds are amazing things; we can process over 6,000 thoughts in one day alone. Added to this, through spending time with others constantly, you can end up processing their thoughts and feelings too, meaning less clarity and time on your own thoughts.
External noise can make it very challenging to feel peaceful on the inside, and this can eventually leave you feeling frazzled.
When you are able to take just a few minutes out to be still in silence or in your own company, then your brain is given a chance to catch up and chill out!
2. BUILD RELATIONSHIPS
Even the strongest of relationships can benefit from time apart. This time is healthy, for the both of you and can allow you time to apprecaite the other person or what they do even more so than if you were with them.
3. PROBLEM SOLVING
They say a problem shared is a problem halved, but what if you haven’t even shared that problem with yourself properly as you are so busy being mum, dad, the best friend, partner etc. If something is playing on your mind, but you don’t have the time to think about it properly, then this issue can go unresolved.
By taking the much needed time alone to focus on what has happened, and how you need to deal with it, or what help you might need, and how it has made you feel, then you can find a solution that can then be shared (if you would like to)
Aren’t sure how to make time for yourself? Can you perhaps restructure your day so that you have an early morning before the rest of the house is up, or perhaps you can grab some uninterrupted time at the weekend or later on in the evening when others are already tucked up, however you can do so, we encourage you to, you won’t regret it.
